New tip lines for crime tips to police department
In an effort to strengthen community partnerships and enhance public trust, the Reedley Police Department has implemented two new "TIP Line" numbers for the public to call in tips or specific information regarding criminal activity. These types of calls could be related to ongoing drug activity, gang activity, other criminal related conduct or "quality of life" issues that the public would like to report. These "tips" can now be called in telephonically through two separate phone numbers, one for English speaking citizens and one for Spanish speaking citizens. Sustainable Aviation Project
The Cities of Reedley and Mendota have partnered and recently been awarded a $1,071,348 grant from the Fresno County Transportation Authority for the purchase of four (4) electric trainer aircraft, and utilizing partnering organizations, provide flight training cost assistance for low income veterans, students and others from disadvantaged communities to demonstrate the feasibility of advanced electrified aviation technology to reduce traffic congestion, energy consumption and air emissions resulting from less vehicular traffic and less surface street congestion; and improve mobility in more densely developed areas by providing convenient and direct transit service. This is a groundbreaking project for the communities of Reedley and Mendota to be a part of, and there is exciting news coming as the program takes shape. New Roundabout at Reed & North Avenue
Construction of the single-lane roundabout at Reed and North Avenue is now complete. This marks the second roundabout in the city. Roundabouts reduce traffic congestion and maximize safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists because of the slower speeds and fewer points of impact; which have been proven to reduce serious and fatal collisions by up to 80%. In addition, roundabouts reduce delays because drivers are prompted to yield rather than stop at a red light, which allows roundabouts to handle a higher traffic volume for the same number of lanes. Though roundabouts are new for many drivers, they are becoming more commonplace in the Central Valley. Therefore, it is important for the residents and visitors of Reedley to know the basics. You can find helpful videos of roundabout basics and navigation by clicking here and here. Also, you can find a helpful diagram by clicking here
