MECHANICS FIESTA WALK RUN
The Mechanics Fiesta Walk Run is a Valley Runner of the Year Series 30 point race for the 5 mile run. Due to this classification, we should see runners from all around the valley participating. In addition to the highly competitive series race, we also have categories for runners as young as 2 who can compete in the 1/8 mile run. There are also the ¼ mile and ½ mile for kids. Older children and adults can compete in the 2 and 5 mile walks and runs. Both competitive and non-competitive entries are available. Awards are given to each gender, age group and race. All races start and end in the downtown area. Come early for the race and stay for the Fiesta Parade and events in the park afterward. Race typically held 2nd Saturday in October Races start at 6:55 am A professional photographer will take pictures. When you find yours on his site, download it for free. A race shirt is provided to all pre-registered runners; late registration shirts until supplies last. Community Recreation Grants are Back!
Applications are now being accepted for Community Recreation Grant. Three $350 grants are available to non-profit groups who provide recreational activities to Reedley residents or Reedley school sanctioned youth groups or activities. A representative of the organization is required to be present at Community Services Commission meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Reedley Community Center to answer any questions and clarify the information submitted. Consulting Services RFP Released - Farmland Preservation Program
The City of Reedley is soliciting proposals from qualified consulting firms to assist in formulating the City of Reedley Farmland Preservation Program. The intent of the process is to assess and evaluate existing programs utilized throughout the state, formulate a menu of options or alternatives for consideration and discussion, conduct a comprehensive public outreach campaign, and identify the preferred program for consideration by the Reedley Planning Commission and City Council. This effort is being funded through a Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation (SALC) Program grant with the State of California Department of Conservation; with project scope, deliverables and all project work expected to conform to the regulations of the SALC Program. A maximum of $55,000 has been budgeted for this activity. Download the RFP HERE.

In an effort to strengthen community partnerships and enhance public trust, the Reedley Police Department has implemented two new "TIP Line" numbers for the public to call in tips or specific information regarding criminal activity. These types of calls could be related to ongoing drug activity, gang activity, other criminal related conduct or "quality of life" issues that the public would like to report. These "tips" can now be called in telephonically through two separate phone numbers, one for English speaking citizens and one for Spanish speaking citizens. Sustainable Aviation Project
The Cities of Reedley and Mendota have partnered and recently been awarded a $1,071,348 grant from the Fresno County Transportation Authority for the purchase of four (4) electric trainer aircraft, and utilizing partnering organizations, provide flight training cost assistance for low income veterans, students and others from disadvantaged communities to demonstrate the feasibility of advanced electrified aviation technology to reduce traffic congestion, energy consumption and air emissions resulting from less vehicular traffic and less surface street congestion; and improve mobility in more densely developed areas by providing convenient and direct transit service. This is a groundbreaking project for the communities of Reedley and Mendota to be a part of, and there is exciting news coming as the program takes shape. Year Round Aquatics Opportunities
Enjoy Lap Swim and Water Aerobics year round. Check us out on our Aquatics Page. Lap passes must be purchased in advance at the Reedley Community Center. Water Aerobics monthly fee must be paid at the Reedley Community Center. Space is limited.
The City of Reedley and River City Theatre Company are working together to bring theater to those who may not otherwise have an opportunity to enjoy this experience. For every show offered by RCTC a group will be selected to attend. Many of your questions will be answered in the Dress Rehearsal Guidelines.
